Celtic linked with Haissem Hassan

Celtic have been linked with a move for Egypt international Haissem Hassan as the Scottish champions continue to assess options to strengthen their attacking ranks ahead of the new season.

Multiple reports in Spain and the UK claim Celtic have submitted an offer for the 24-year-old winger, although neither club has officially confirmed that a bid has been made. Reports also suggest an initial proposal was rejected, with Hassan’s reported release clause believed to be significantly higher than the opening offer.

Hassan has attracted increased attention following his performances for Egypt at the FIFA World Cup. The winger impressed with his direct running and dribbling ability during Egypt’s knockout-stage meeting with Argentina, producing an eye-catching display against the reigning world champions before Egypt exited the tournament.

Born in Paris, Hassan represented France at youth level before switching his international allegiance to Egypt. After beginning his senior career with Châteauroux, he spent time with Villarreal’s B team and made first-team appearances for the Spanish club before enjoying spells with Mirandés and Sporting Gijón. He currently plays for Real Oviedo in Spain.

Primarily a right winger, Hassan is known for his pace, close control and ability to take on defenders in one-on-one situations. Those qualities have helped raise his profile in recent months, particularly following his World Cup performances on the international stage.

Celtic have already been linked with several attacking players during the current transfer window as the club looks to strengthen its squad ahead of another domestic title challenge and European campaign. Whether Hassan ultimately becomes a Celtic player may depend on further negotiations between the clubs if reports of the initial approach prove accurate.
