Kelechi Iheanacho Bursaspor Move Ends Any Hope of Celtic Return

Kelechi Iheanacho’s Celtic Story Ends as Striker Completes Bursaspor Move

Any lingering hopes of Kelechi Iheanacho returning to Celtic have now officially come to an end after the striker completed his move to Turkish side Bursaspor.

The Nigerian forward had been linked with a return to Parkhead throughout the summer following the expiry of his short-term deal. While many supporters felt he had done enough during his spell in Glasgow to earn another contract, Celtic ultimately decided against extending his stay.

For weeks there had been speculation that fresh talks could revive his Celtic career, but nothing materialised. Instead, Bursaspor moved quickly to secure his signature, and the transfer has now been confirmed.

It’s a move that will disappoint plenty of Celtic fans. Although his time at the club was relatively brief, Iheanacho made a positive impression with his experience, intelligent movement and ability to contribute in important moments. He offered something different in the final third and looked capable of playing a bigger role had he remained at the club.

Instead, Celtic will head into the new campaign looking elsewhere for attacking reinforcements. Martin O’Neill has signed Camilo Duran but there’s little doubt supporters will be hoping another forward arrives before the transfer window closes.

Iheanacho now begins a fresh chapter in Turkey, where he’ll be hoping to rediscover the form that made him one of the Premier League’s most highly-rated young strikers.

As for Celtic, attention quickly turns to what comes next. With another attacking option now off the market, the recruitment team will be expected to identify the next player capable of adding quality and depth to Rodgers’ frontline.

While there may be some disappointment over how things have played out, the focus at Parkhead is firmly on building a squad capable of retaining domestic success and making a stronger impression in Europe this season.
